Class 5 - WC 17/10/16
Class 5 have had a fantastic final week of term. In English they have looked at comparing texts and learned how to compare them.
In Maths they have focused on ratio and realised how much it is used in day to day living.
As part of their Health and Social Care studies Class 5 investigated setting up a business. They looked at a trampoline venue called ‘Adrenaline.’ During their visit they were given a talk by the business manager, this involved discussing the costs of setting up a business, the time it takes for the business to make a profit and all the hidden expenses and unforeseen problems there are with setting up a business. All were very impressed by the information and feel that it was very interesting. As we were already at Adrenaline we took the opportunity to use the facilities, it was brilliant! I think Mr Kent enjoyed it the most though.
In P.E it has been assessment week!! The students had to plan, prepare and deliver their own sporting activity. All of those who took part did this to a high standard. Callum and Jake exceeded expectations with their activities which would not have been out of place at the Carrington Centre. Well done to all the pupils.
Food Tech saw the end of the eggs trial, with the grand finale of ‘Eggs Benedict’. After a shaky start, the heat was on! The teams were Connor and Miss Simpson, Mrs Madani and Ryan, Tom and Mr Kent and Travis and Jake, all were ready to make the best meal.
Unfortunately, Mr Kent and Tom were out early with their Hollandaise sauce splitting. The competition continued and finally Ms Roe, Mr McBride and Mrs Houldsworth were brought in to taste and score the best Eggs Benedict, the results were as follows:
3rd Place – Conner and Miss Simpson
Joint 1st place – Miss Madani and Ryan (for presentation)
Travis and Jake (for taste)
Well done to Class 5 for a fantastic term, have a great week off!!
