Class 8 - WC 23/01/17

Due to various illnesses we have had poor attendance this week, with only Danny coming into school on Tuesday! In English we looked at a recipe for hardtack biscuits. These were a staple food for sailors and therefore pirates. We then made the hardtack pirate biscuits, but no one liked them; probably because we weren’t allowed to dip them in rum!

In maths we have looked at measuring and converting units in metric. One lesson involved selecting objects from around the class, measuring them in cm and then converting the measurements into mm and m. For our maths investigation the class had to arrange a selection of coins by carefully following some set rules. This proved quite tricky, but congratulations to Callum who managed to work independently for almost the entire lesson.

It was a clean sweep of awards for Danny (made easier as he was the only pupil with 100% attendance this week), with him picking up the ‘most points’ and the ‘student of the week’ awards. Congratulations also to Callum, who represented the class at Elm Tree Court for the third week in a row.
