Winter Closure Procedure

As I am sure you are aware from weather and news reports that it has been predicted that we may encounter severe weather conditions.  

We will make every effort to keep the school open, however during bad weather as we must consider the health & safety of all pupils and staff, conditions of the school site and other emergencies.

Often the decision to close the school can only take place in the morning.  We are aware that this may present real difficulties for many families in relation to child care provision at short notice.  To support you we will endeavour to make the decision by 7am.  If we decide to close the school our normal practice is to inform Bradford Metropolitan District Borough Council as soon as possible so that their websites can be updated.

As the majority of our students travel to and from school in taxis PTS will also be able to advise if transport has been cancelled, their number is 01274 438889 – please be aware that during bad weather conditions they may be inundated with calls.

Please note that radio stations do not announce when schools re-open, you will need to check online during longer periods of adverse weather for a return to school date.

Occasionally we may need to close school earlier than normal, we will however try to avoid this if at all possible.    If we do need to close the whole school earlier than normal then we will need your permission to send your child home.   It is of utmost importance that we therefore have contact numbers in school, please ensure that the school office is advised should you change your number.
