Class 2 WC 09.09.19

It’s been the first full week for Class 2 – last week we focused on getting to know each other and our classroom and this week we have begun formal learning. This week the students have completed Maths and English every day and have shown an increasing determination to get their tasks completed. But it’s not all been textbook and written work as you can see from our photo’s. We have also started an art project where the students successfully experimented with shade and tone. This will be completed next week – watch this space! We discovered an abundance of blackberries in our grounds and have been researching recipes that will use these. Over the next couple of weeks we will be using the blackberries to make yummy dishes.

The students have also been learning debating skills; how to listen and speak effectively and present a ‘for’ and ‘against’ argument. So far we have debated whether the elderly should be cared for by family or in a home with the general opinion leaning towards care by family but with support for the carers. The debate illustrated how compassionate and insightful Class 2 students are and gave them the opportunity to increase and practice their vocabulary range.
