General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

24th May 2018

You maybe aware that the law on holding and using data is changing;  you may also have received information about this from other organisations.  The changes apply to schools as well as charities and companies and will come into effect on 25th May 2018.   Any organisation which processes and shares personal data must comply with this new regulation.

As we collect, store and share your child’s personal data, we have updated some of our processes to ensure that we will be compliant by the time the regulation comes into force.

One of these changes is that we have updated our privacy notice.    The new Privacy Notice for pupils can be downloaded below, along with the Declaration for New Pupil Privacy.

As we have a duty to edcucate and care for pupils in school, most of what we do comes under the “exercise of official authority”, and this allows us to contact you via email, letter, phone and text in relation to your child’s education and welfare.  However, we do require consent for aspects of other data we hold such as photographs, medical etc..    We have posted to all parents our new consent form and included a stamped address envelope for you to return this completed document as soon as possible.

If you would like more information about consent or GDPR, please contact Mrs Debbie Slinger, School Business Manager, either via email or on 01274 619504.   Alternatively please visit the Information Commissioner’s Office website on
